LFW Part II: Fashion Mode

As a result of blogging in tandem we’re ending up with a somewhat confusing juxtaposition of posts featuring both LFW ss12 and the men’s aw12 MFW: quite literally worlds apart. Consider it a good exercise to keep everyone on their fashion toes.

Next up on the agenda, following Krystof Strozyna, is the Fashion Mode show. Fashion Mode represent three designers each year and in this case it was one menswear designer, (James Hillman) sandwiched between two women’s wear designers (Carlotta Actis Barone & Florian Jayet). Although the room was ram-jam-packed, it was worth putting up with the heat to see these three very different collections and the way they worked in relation to one another.

To concentrate on womenswear, whereas Actis Barone was all about fluidity and colour, Jayet's garments, using white as a base, were more rigidly structured. In the first case it was clearly a vision of rosy-cheeked femininity whilst Jayet was playing on a summery mood with a darker side to it. Funnily enough, despite their differences, Actis Barone and Jayet nevertheless echoed one another through the use of headwear. Cherry blossom on the one hand, gothic chains on the other.
