Lace & Velvet

Models: me, Sally McKerron
MUA: Katie Ford
Hair: Aileen Robson
Headpieces: Jenivieve Berlin Millinery
A couple of weeks ago saw me trekking from Glasgow to Edinburgh to model for photographer Siobhan Stewart. The copious amounts of velvet & lace were enough to satisfy anyone's regal longings in this royalty inspired shoot, mine included. Let's face it, it's a well known fact I'm a sucker for lace anyway...
On arrival at the studio I spotted a couple of familiar-looking hat-boxes: as coincidence would have it, the headwear Siobhan had got her hands on was no less than that of Jenivieve Berlin Millinery, who I recently interviewed for GUM. Small world.
With feathers & gems galore, the pieces fit perfectly with the theme and it was therefore interesting to see how they worked in a different context to the one that the collection had been inspired out of. With such a strong royal current running through the photos, you couldn't get much further from the 19th century Parisian underworld that Jenivieve Berlin had taken as starting point to the "Lace & Chain" collection. And yet it almost seems as if the pieces had been designed especially for this shoot - sign of a strong collection?
