Surrealy Beautiful

After randomly deciding to look up Guy Bourdin the other day, I ended up both revisiting and discovering his work.
His photography is impressive on so many levels: intentionally provocative or disturbing and full of sensuality, the strong esthetic qualities of his photos accentuate the shock-factor, whilst making it pleasurable to look at them. And that's where you realise he stepped right in the footsteps of the Surrealists, the difference being that he appropriated their style to fit it to the rather more specific world of fashion.
Added to the fact that 20 years after his death, his work - with photos ranging from the grotesque to tongue-in-cheek - has barely dated, if at all.
